CHALLENGE

At 68 years old and after nearly three decades away from performing rock music, Danny Elfman set out to reintroduce himself to a new generation at Coachella 2022.

Rather than revisit his greatest hits, he envisioned something entirely unexpected: a collision of rock, symphonic music, film, and provocative visual storytelling.

The challenge was to bring these creative worlds together into a singular live experience—one that honored his extraordinary legacy while establishing an entirely new chapter in his career.

RESULTS

Danny Elfman's Big Mess became one of Coachella's most talked-about performances, earning critical acclaim for its audacious fusion of music, theatricality, and visual storytelling.

The performance introduced a new generation to a different side of Elfman, demonstrating how an established creative identity could be reinvented rather than simply revisited.

BIG MESS

Coachella 2022

Petros collaborated with Danny Elfman during the early development of Big Mess, helping shape the visual direction for its live performances while documenting the creative process behind the project.

This evolved into Behind the Mess, a three-part documentary series exploring the artist's creative reinvention. Part One was released as part of the Big Mess Deluxe Box Set.

KICK ME

Music Video

Part of Danny’s art for his live performance was expressed through his muscular physicality and a new system of tattoos he completed in 2021. Petros created a conceptual performance video exploring themes of body dysmorphia and celebrity for ‘Kick Me’.
